I can't believe it is already September and I haven't uploaded a single post of my summer yet. So first of all, I have been writing a lot, I just took a break of my blog. But I am back again with new posts and ideas for this last quarter of the year.

I love to go hiking. I'd like to say not just because I'm Swiss but being deep down honest. The mountains are like a home. I barely have time to go hiking so I'm a beginner myself but here are some points that helped me to get going. 1. Find a suitable hiking route. If you live in Switzerland there are a lot of websites available to show you hiking tours and a lot more. My personal favorite is wanderungen.ch , where it shows you all the information you need. Important is to choose a route that isn't too hard for you hiking level. 2. Have the right equipment. An important point for me is that it has to be affordable. So the only thing that I may spend a little more money on is in good hiking or tracking shoes. An other point you should not forget is a good backpack that doesn't put all the way on your shoulders. But at good secondhand stores you'll find one that probably is still in a good shape. Always have a rain/wind jacket just in case with you. And if you want to relieve your knees you can invest in a pair of trekking sticks. 3. Keep the dangers in mind. Don't overestimate your fitness. Especially as a beginner do not take and hard or extremely long routes. When you run out of breath take a break! And to go off a hiking path needs experience, so stay on the path unless you know what you're are doing. And especially in Switzerland we have enough tagged hiking routes. 4. Always check the weather. Don't go hiking when it's raining or storming, the rocks get slippery when wet. And if the sun is really really bright keep in mind to choose a route with enough shadow. 5. What I pack in my bag: - a cap and sunscreen - rain jacket - a map or my mobile phone to check the track and route - enough water - a good snack Please keep in mind that all of this are my personal thoughts for beginners and you should always listen to your body.
After exactly a year seeing my danish best friend again! I've been planning to visit Julie for a long time now, but it never really worked out because of work and school or other activies. We both were so busy! But this past Thurday I just spontaneously decided to buy a plane ticket to Denmark.
Life is crazy sometimes, but I'm glad I have friends all over the world I can just visit whenever. The weirdest thing is not seeing Julie everyday at school and tell her just about everything. I'm so glad I got to experience my exchange year with her and that we're still friends, remarking here how hard it is to keep relations alive living so far aways from each other. Love you bunches Julie! It's already June and I'm all the way in the mood for summer vacation. I'm glad I got to spend a few weekend hiking and camping trips already with my friends. And I'm 100% sure this summer is going to be the best summer ever. Well I say this about every summer and I'm saying that as a proud fall/winter season person.
But I am so looking forward about posting about my trips that are coming up! I just found this picture recently, while I was showing one of my co-workers some pictures of my exchange year. Funny how this picture ended up in the wrong folder. What I just realized now, that I probably will never exeperience a winter sport camp like this again. 4 years in a row I was having fun with people I was already friends with, met new people or even bonded with some people I didn't know as well.
So what I am trying to say with this post is, enjoy moments like those. And for the future I am gonna make new memories with new and old friends. So now after taking a break for over a month of blogging I am now finally back. I have been so stressed out and I just needed to spend my time with other things, so I don't lose myself. I had so much work to get done by so many deadlines. School assignments and other projects were drowning me and at the same time I was working so much. But not only was I really stressed out, I was also trying to keep my social life maintained.
But I didn't forget to write down my thoughts during this time, so now I have more content to blog about. I cannot wait to post about the things I have planned for the near future. |
